Packaging:
The Mary Kay Gel Semi-Shine Lipsticks are housed in the same black and silver packaging as that of last year's
Gel Semi-Matte Lipsticks. The caps are adorned with a classy silver cut-out design and their tops feature a transparent window that shows the lipstick shade inside.

Formulation:
Promising a smooth application and a long-lasting wear, the new Mary Kay Gel Semi-Shine Lipsticks feature a jojoba-infused, "gel technology" formulation that feels super slick and ultra hydrating on the lips. The lipsticks are very cushioning; they fill fine lines and make the lips appear plump and nourished. In terms of pigmentation, all 12 shades are on the sheerer side. Nevertheless, the majority of the shades provide a flattering, satin-cream finish. In terms of wear, the formulation is a bit lacking. Because the lipsticks are so slick and hydrating, the pigments don't cling well to the lips and end up transferring and fading with light eating and drinking. See below for a breakdown of all 12 shades.

Mary Kay Gel Semi-Shine Lipstick | Spiced Ginger, Naturally Buff, Rosewood & Raspberry Ice |
Spiced Ginger: A shimmery metallic nude brown, Spiced Ginger is smooth and non-gritty but the coverage is a little patchy.
Naturally Buff: This is a milky beige nude. The formulation is sheer but buildable. There's some settling into fine lines but the overall coverage is not bad for such a pale color.
Rosewood: A dusty rose nude, Rosewood is slightly semi-sheer but non-patchy.
Raspberry Ice: This is a lovely soft rose. The pigmentation is much more intense as compared to the previous shades and the formulation is very smooth and creamy.

Love Me Pink: A pale pastel pink, Love Me Pink is sheer and patchy but buildable to a decent coverage.
Luminous Lilac: A very shimmery lilac pink, Luminous Lilac is sheer but even. Although very sparkly, the lipstick feels smooth and non-gritty.
Haute Pink: This is a bright hot pink sprinkled with a very subtle hint of shimmers. The formulation is surprisingly sheer and the finish is a tad uneven.
Apple Berry: A unique and sophisticated shimmery berry red, Apple Berry is semi-sheer but buildable.

Mary Kay Gel Semi-Shine Lipstick | Sunset Peach, Red Smolder, Scarlet Red & Berry Couture |
Sunset Peach: This is a soft creamy peach with a subtle hint of shimmers. The formulation is definitely sheer but the color is buildable to a decent and non-patchy finish.
Red Smolder: A warm bright red, Red Smolder is nicely pigmented and super creamy. In terms of pigmentation, this is the most intense shade out of the collection.
Scarlet Red: A rich ruby red shimmer, Scarlet Red is pigmented but slightly patchy.
Berry Couture: This is a deep plummy brown sprinkled with a subtle dash of shimmers. The formulation is noticeably patchy so I wouldn't recommend this shade.

Below is a collage of all 12 shades for comparison. Although nothing revolutionary, the Mary Kay Gel Semi-Shine Lipsticks are great for those that want a comfortable, everyday lipstick that's moisturizing and comfortable on the lips. My personal shade recommendations are "Rosewood", "Raspberry Ice", "Red Smolder", and "Apple Berry".
