Catered towards makeup artists and aficionados alike, Make Up For Ever has always offered a lot of customizable products and for Fall 2017, the brand is extending its range with the new Artist Face Color Refillable Makeup System. Available as a customizable system with 34 shades of highlight, blush, and contour to choose from, the collection is a dream come true for anyone that has ever wanted to create their own face palette. Today I want to share my review of the palette and two shades from the range. To read on, click......
Packaging:
Available as a highly customizable system, the Artist Face Color series consist of 34 refillable highlighters, contour powders, and blush colors, along with three refillable compacts in the single, duo, and trio sizes. All the powder refills (5g) sell for $29 each and all three empty compacts sell for only $2 each. However, discounts are automatically applied when you buy the duo and trio sets. For $44, you get two refill shades and one duo palette (a value of $60). For $56, you get three refill shades and one trio palette (a value of $90).
*Please note, all prices are in Canadian dollars.*
I have here the duo palette filled with one highlight refill and one blush refill. The compact is well made with a snap closure and a sleek, matte plastic material. You get a decently sized mirror inside and the base of the compact features a magnetic surface that allows the refill pans to be easily swapped in and out. The compact does seem to be a tad larger than the size of two refills combined. I suppose this was designed to allow easy removal of the refills but I do wish the pans fit more snuggly for a sleeker look.
Formulation:
For the Artist Face Color system, Make Up For Ever is offering six highlighter shades, eight sculpting shades, and twenty blush shades. I have here the highlighter in "H102" and the blush in "B204". "H102" is a gorgeous opalescent champagne with a subtle pink sheen. The formulation is super creamy and buttery; it's pigmented but easily blendable to give a youthful and alluring glow. "B204" is a cool-tone matte baby pink. The formulation is not as creamy as the highlighter but it's silky and even. The pigmentation is also superb so a little goes a long way.
Overall, this is a fantastic product! The customizable system is very convenient and with so many colors to choose from, it really is the go-to choice for those hoping to make their own everyday face palettes.
Update: After wearing the blush for five or six times now, I've noticed that it fades very quickly. Powder blushes generally last the whole day for me but "B204" lacks longevity. I've not tried any other shades in the range so I can't comment on the whole line but this shade definitely disappointed in that respect.
