After trying the much talked about Balm Dotcom and Boy Brow from Glossier, I've finally delved into the brand's skincare repertoire. With a modest range of masks and serums, the collection is not super expansive but it sure has been receiving a lot of buzz on social media. So today I want to share with you my reviews of the famed Milky Jelly Cleanser, Super Bounce Serum, and the Moisturizing Moon Mask. To read on, click......
Glossier | Milky Jelly Cleanser ($22 CAD for 177ml):
With a viscous gel-like texture, the Milky Jelly Cleanser is made with rosewater, comfrey root extract, and vitamin B5. When applied over dry or wet skin, the non-foaming formulation is surprisingly effective at removing most face makeup (ex. foundation, blush, brow liner) without stripping away any excess moisture. Although it doesn't remove waterproof eye makeup, the Milky Jelly Cleanser still provides a deep cleansing that leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I've noticed that the product does cause an unusual stinging sensation when I rub it around for too long, but I've not experienced any redness or prolonged sensitivity. So overall, I like this a lot as an everyday gel cleanser. However, if you have sensitive skin, I would recommend looking into the full ingredient list on Glossier before buying.
Update: After using up about a quarter of the bottle, I've finally come to the realization that this product appears to be giving me breakouts. Since I test out so many products on a regular basis, I'm not 100% sure that this is the culprit but I have a pretty good hunch. I've never gotten breakouts from a skincare product so I definitely wouldn't recommend this for sensitive skin.
Glossier | Moisturizing Moon Mask ($27 CAD for 90ml):
Made with sweet almond oil, shea butter, honey, aloe juice, licorice extract, lemon extract, and hyaluronic acid, the Moisturizing Moon Mask is a soft cream mask designed to nourish and condition dry and dehydrated skin. With a mostly scent-free, lightweight texture, the mask spreads easily and provides a nice soothing sensation. Although it doesn't harden like a clay mask, the Moon Mask will slightly set. It removes easily with a warm damp towel and water and the skin is left feeling super soft and moisturized. There is no greasy, heavy residue so no matter your skin type, this is an excellent hydration mask for any day of the week.
Glossier | Super Bounce Serum ($35 CAD for 15ml):
Last but not least is the moisturizing Super Bounce Serum made with two natural skin hydrators: hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5. Housed in a cute glass bottle equipped with a glass dropper, the serum has a light but viscous texture that spreads evenly and absorbs quickly for a nice, non-sticky finish. I think this is a great addition for those looking to add some extra hydration into their skincare routine but I couldn't help but make the comparison to The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum that I've recently reviewed. Although The Ordinary version has a lot fewer skin-conditioning agents as compared to Super Bounce, it still contains the two key ingredients and is silicone-free. Also, in terms of pricing, The Ordinary is significantly more budget-friendly. I'm not bashing the Super Bounce Serum by any means because it really is a great everyday serum, but if value is a main draw for you, definitely do a little more research on comparable alternatives before buying.
