Inspired by her fond memories of spending New Year's Eve in New York City, Essie Global Color Designer Rebecca Minkoff has created six new festive shades for the Essie Winter 2017 Collection. I've got swatches and reviews of the full range to share with you today. So to read on, click......
Be Cherry!:
A classic bright holiday red, Be Cherry is a pigmented cream with a nice and smooth formulation. You can probably get away with only one coat but I used two just in case.
On Your Mistletoes:
This is a deep oxford blue cream. The color is ultra-pigmented but the formulation is a little runny so make sure to work carefully around the cuticles to avoid pooling. I used two coats for the swatches below.
Suit & Tied:
A unique soft caramel cream, Suit & Tied is hands down my favorite color out of the collection. The formulation is super pigmented and creamy. I used two coats for the swatches below.
Social-Lights:
Another unique shade, Social-Lights is a pretty slate gray sprinkled with a subtle dash of orange/green duochrome shimmers. The formulation is even and smooth; I used two coats for the swatches below.
Ring in the Bling:
A rich deep red with a festive pearly finish, Ring in the Bling is surprisingly sheer. Two coats gave a nice enough coverage but I definitely had to apply a thick second coat to ensure opacity.
New Year, New Hue:
This is a rich warm plum with a smooth cream finish. The formulation is very pigmented and buttery. I used two coats for the swatches below.
Overall, this is a very sophisticated winter collection! With the exception of Ring in the Bling, all the shades are incredibly pigmented and easy to apply. My personal recommendations are Suit & Tied and Social-Lights.
Availability:
The Essie Winter 2017 Collection is available starting November 2017.
