Infused with extracts of peach and sweet fig, the
Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick ($25 CAD) is a new addition to the
Too Faced family as a part of the permanent, Sephora-exclusive
Peaches and Cream Collection. Available in 20 shades and promising a pigmented, comfortable, and long-lasting wear, the lipsticks are exquisitely packaged to satisfy your every peachy obsession. I have eight shades to share with you today so to see some swatches and read my review, click......
Packaging:
When it comes to packaging, Too Faced rarely disappoints and these Peach Kiss lipsticks are beyond adorable! With a weighted, elegant design, the ivory-colored tubes are adorned with shiny gold accents. The caps are topped with a raised peach inlay and they are tinted to reflect the lipstick color inside.
The peach theme continues with the actual lipstick bullet, which is uniquely molded with a rectangular tip. It is pressed with the Too Faced monogram and small peach silhouettes encircle the sides. Overall, the Peach Kiss Matte Moisture Lipsticks definitely get an A+ on packaging!
Formulation:
Promising a matte, comfortable, and long-lasting wear, the Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipsticks are available in 20 different shades. From my knowledge, matte lipsticks are not easy to formulate and unfortunately, the Peach Kiss lipsticks are truly disappointing. I have eight shades here and majority of them are quite problematic.
In terms of pigmentation, all eight shades are pretty impressive. However, the texture is where the issues lie. Despite having a creamy texture, the lipsticks are very patchy. When I managed to smooth out an even coverage, things soon go awry when I purse or smack my lips together. With the exception of a couple of the shades, the formulation feels silicone-y and doesn't seem to adhere to the lips. It settles into fine lines and around dry patches and as soon as it touches another surface (i.e. when the upper and lower lips touch, or when the lips touch the rim of a cup), the color moves, transfers, and bunches like no tomorrow. Needless to say, the lipsticks are not long-wearing. They transfer easily and do so in noticeable patches that leave behind a blotchy finish. Additionally, although the lipsticks are not drying, they aren't what I would call moisturizing either. The formulation does have a subtle peach fragrance, which is a lot softer than that of the
Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Glosses.
*Please Note*: I had some lighting issues when photographing the swatches so the arm swatches look quite different from the lip swatches. I think an accurate representation of the lipstick shades is somewhere in between the arm swatches and the lip swatches.
Doll Face: This is a pale beige nude. The formulation is extremely patchy and unflattering. I would recommend steering clear from this shade.
Sunday Funday: This is a soft beige brown. The formulation is definitely better compared to that of Doll Face but again, it's very prone to bunching and transferring.
Sex on the Peach: A further improvement of the previous two, Sex on the Peach is a soft brown nude. The texture is a lot smoother but again, you can see how the lipstick gets strange and patchy near the inner rim of the lips.
Peach Beach: A gorgeous coral peach, Peach Beach is similar to Sex on the Peach in that the application is a smoother. However, the lip color did not cling well to the lips, any contact resulted in noticeable patching and transferring.
Pink with A Wink: A pale baby pink, Pink with a Wink is pigmented but patchy. The color does build but again, the lipstick tends to move around the lips, resulting in an uneven and patchy finish.
Makeup Me Happy: This is a soft rosy pink. The color is very pigmented but it shares similar problems as the shades mentioned above.
I Think in Pink: A bright neon pink, I Think in Pink is one of the standouts in the eight colors I have. In addition to a pigmented formulation, the color applies much smoother and clings better to the lips. There's still transferring but it does so in a way that you would expect from a good, regular lipstick.
Drunk Dial: The other standout from the bunch, Drunk Dial is a rich warm purple. Similar to I Think in Pink, the color applies nicely with minimal patchiness; it clings much better to the lips for a longer, better wear.
Matte lipsticks tend to be hit and miss and unfortunately, the Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipsticks failed to impress. Aside from a couple of exceptions (I Think in Pink and Drunk Dial), the shades I've tried are patchy, crease-y, and transfer-prone. It's possible that the rest of the 20-shade range (especially the bolder reds and pinks) fares better but based on the eight shades I've tried, I cannot recommend the Peach Kiss lipsticks. Nevertheless, the packaging design is amazing. If you want to pick up a shade or two simply for the sake of collecting, I'd say go for it!
