Available in three formulations, the L'Oreal Pure-Clay Cleanser is a unique face wash made with three different types of clay: kaolin, Moroccan lava clay, and montmorillonite. Although the cleansers feel like a creamy and rich clay mask, they lather very well to provide a thorough cleansing.
The Exfoliating & Refining version (red) is formulated with red algae and sparse scrubbing particles; this is great if you like a face wash that doubles as a face scrub. The Purifying & Mattifying version (green) is formulated with eucalyptus while the Energizing & Brightening (black) version is formulated with charcoal. These two are similar to each other as neither contain scrubbing particles but the Energizing & Brightening version does have a slightly thicker texture.
Overall, the Pure-Clay Cleansers are awesome! They are super rich and calming on the face yet they foam to provide a deep cleansing. My skin feels super clean after use and the non-drying formulation leaves my face fresh and supple.
L'Oreal Pure-Clay Comforting & Unifying Mask ($12.99 CAD):
The trio of Pure-Clay masks from L'Oreal released last year made it onto my Best of 2016 list so I'm beyond ecstatic to see that there's a new addition to the family. Also made with a three-clay base of kaolin, Moroccan lava clay, montmorillonite, this blue-colored clay mask is formulated with extracts of brown algae. The formulation is very smooth and heavily fragranced with a fresh floral scent; it sets completely but doesn't get overly dry or stiff. The mask reminds me the most of the Energizing & Brightening Mask, although this one is formulated with a lot more alcohol (fourth ingredient on the list, unfortunately). It washes off pretty easily and leaves the skin feeling super clean and smooth. All in all, as much as I enjoy the Comforting & Unifying version of the Pure-Clay Mask, the Energizing & Brightening Mask from the original launch is still my favorite because it leaves the skin just a little bit smoother and softer and it contains a lot less alcohol.
