IT Cosmetics is finally available in Canada at Sephora and online at itcosmetics.ca. In celebration of the occasion, I want to share with you my review of their number one bestseller, the Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ ($49 CAD). An all-in-one, award-winning full coverage foundation with a whole skincare system built within, the product is certainly promising. So how did it actually perform? Read my review and see some swatches to find out......
Packaging:
The Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream comes in a 32ml squeeze tube equipped with a pump dispenser. The packaging is pretty simple but I like how the product stays fresh thanks to the convenient pump.
Formulation:
Featuring a rich and high-coverage formulation with a built-in serum, moisturizer, and primer, the IT Cosmetics CC+ is formulated with collagen, peptides, niacin, antioxidants, and physical sunscreens (titanium oxide and zinc oxide) that provide an SPF of 50+. With most BB and CC creams, the coverage is medium at best so I was pretty taken aback by how pigmented the CC+ is. The range offers seven shades and I have here the lightest of them all, "Fair". The color is comparable to an NC/NW15; it's a touch too light for me (I'm NC20) but when winter rolls around, the match may be slightly better!
In terms of coverage, I have absolutely no complaints since the CC+ is super pigmented. However, I experienced quite a lot of difficulty with the application and the finish. I first applied the CC+ with just my fingers and found the finish to be extremely streaky, especially on my nose. I literally could not get rid of visible finger prints no matter how much I swiped, dabbed, and patted. I also tried this with the Clarisonic Foundation Brush, which I am in the process of testing and the result was an absolute mess. Therefore, I resorted to my favorite foundation brush from EcoTools. The result was definitely better but still not great. The CC+ accentuated skin textures as the pigments immediately settled into any enlarged pores (click on the image below to get a closer look). Additionaly, the finish was quite "wet" and transfer-prone. Even with a good powder, things did look great.
In terms of wear, the CC+ is not bad. The dewy, hydrating finish didn't feel excessively greasy or heavy but my skin did get noticebly shiny after a few hours. With that said, this is not too unusual considering that the formulation is so rich and contains SPF. My biggest concern, however, is the noticeable creasing and fading around the nose area, which is a huge pet peeve of mine.
Overall, I personally did not like the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream. Although I am impressed with the packaging and the coverage, the streaky application, unflattering finish, and the dewy, crease-prone wear are hard to overlook. Given that this is a pretty popular product (and the bestseller for the brand), I would still recommend those with normal to dry skin to check it out as it's probably just not suitable for oily skin.
