Too Cool For School | After School BB Foundation Lunch Box #2: Review and Swatches

During my Althea Korea haul, a ton of adorable products caught my eyes but none so won my heart like the cute packaging of the After School BB Foundation Lunch Box ($41.50 USD, on sale for $17) from Too Cool For School. I'm not really in need of another BB Cream but with a design so cute, I could not pass on the deal. Plus, the product is actually a three-in-one kit with a BB Foundation, a cream concealer, and a cream highlighter! Well, is the formulation as good as the packaging? Read my review to find out......

Packaging:
The After School BB Foundation Lunch Box (40g total) comes in the most adorable dual-compartment bottle. A lid on the cap flips open to reveal a small mirror, a cream concealer, and a cream highlighter. And when the cap is completely twisted off, you get access to the liquid BB Foundation. The cap is attached a large plastic spatula which helps scoop out the BB Foundation. However, because the opening of the bottle is so wide, lots of product up ends up stuck on the underside of the cap which eventually makes their way all around the opening of the jar. Overall, the packaging design is very cute and travel-friendly but the foundation part feels quite messy and unsanitary.

Update: After a few uses, the foam padding underneath the cap fell off its base and the cap also cracked when I tried to twist-close the foundation jar. I was not using excessive force so the packaging design is likely flawed.

Formulation:
The After School BB Foundation Lunch Box is a three-in-one complexion product. You get a liquid BB Foundation, a cream concealer, and a cream foundation. There is a total of three shade options and I have here "#2", suitable for fair to light skin. I'm an NC20 and found the BB Foundation a tad too light. The color is also on the cooler side but it doesn't have that obvious gray tinge some Korean BB Creams tend to have.
Formulation-wise, the BB Foundation provides a nice medium coverage with an SPF 37. The finish is very dewy and the texture is creamy and refreshing. It's not a formulation I would recommend for oily or combination skin but it may work for dry to very dry skin. Unfortunately, the product doesn't cling well to the skin, so the wear is not great. After just a few hours (with some blotting), the foundation faded noticeably and I was experiencing an inordinate amount of shine, despite topping the product with a healthy dose of powder right after application.

Also included in the After School BB Foundation Lunch Box is a cream highlighter and a cream concealer. The highlighter is a cool-tone pearlescent shimmer that applies like a cream but sets to a powder. It provides a really gorgeous subtle sheen and the wear is a lot better than the BB Foundation. The concealer, on the other hand, has a surprisingly tacky texture. I found it a bit hard to blend but the coverage is pretty good. Unfortunately, I had similar issues with the wear time. The concealer faded rather quickly but it was probably due to the fact that it was applied on top of the BB Foundation, which virtually slid off the skin within hours.

Below is a before and after demonstration using the BB Foundation all over the face and the cream concealer lightly dabbed under the eyes. As you can see, their combined coverage is pretty good but like I said, the finish is super dewy and prone to fading.
Overall, this is a darn cute product with a nice concept. However, the packaging is flawed and the formulation just doesn't quite jive with my oily skin. Therefore, I would not recommend it to anyone with oily or combination skin. Dry-skinned gals could give this a go but again, the wide-jarred bottle and the unwieldy paddle-applicator makes the application very messy.
