New from Lancome comes an extremely volumizing mascara aptly named Monsieur Big ($31 CAD). Featuring an innovative wax and polymer formulation that builds and volumizes, Monsieur Big promises up to 12 times more volume. So does the mascara live up to its claim? Read my review to find out......
Packaging:
The Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara is housed in a chubby plastic black tube with the product name and the Lancome logo embossed in shiny pink. The wand is a standard bristle brush with a very slightly tapered end. Size-wise, the wand is pretty big but nothing ridiculous. In combination with the very thick formulation, the wand is very difficult to use. I had a lot of trouble getting a smooth coating and it was almost impossible to catch my smaller lashes.
Formulation:
With a name like Monsieur Big, this mascara definitely sets some pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, the product is a complete dud for me. Instead of a volumizing formulation that's smooth and easy-to-apply, the mascara is super chunky and thick. As you can see from the swatches below, I could barely even get any product on my lashes because the formulation was so thick and dry. What managed to adhere onto my lashes were visibly clumpy bits that were neither lengthening nor volumizing. Additionally, the formulation weighed down my curls and was not at all smudge-prone. Although I experienced no flaking, I got some serious raccoon eyes by the end of the day.
Availability:
Lancome is available online and in stores at Sephora, Sears, The Bay, Shoppers, London Drugs and www.lancome.ca.

Therefore, this mascara is definitely not for everyone. Perhaps if you already have some full and thick lashes and are looking for that intense, over-the-top volume, Monsieur Big Might work for you. However, if you are anything like me and have short, straight, and thin lashes, this one is a no-go.
