For Summer 2017, Tarte is releasing four new shades of the Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue ($23 CAD) tinted balms. I've owned the shade "Nude" for the longest time and because the packaging is so pretty, I never had the heart to use it. However, since Tarte sent over the four new shades, I thought I might as well swatch all of them for you and share with you my review on the formulation. To read on, click......
Packaging:
The Quench Lip Rescue is a tinted balm housed in a stunning lipstick tube made of a shiny golden bullet on the inside and a cardboard-wrapped plastic base and cap on the outside. Each shade has a unique nautical theme, embossed with various shiny gold details. Packaging-wise, these totally knocks it out of the park with the exquisite artsy prints.
Formulation:
Advertised as a moisturizing balm with a sheer wash of color, the Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue is formulated with jojoba seed oil, coconut oil, and extracts of algae. The balm has a super slick and lightweight formulation that's hydrating and non-sticky. There's a slight minty flavor but it's not overpowering or stingy. Pigmentation-wise, these are indeed very sheer so not a lot of color will show up. However, the balms do provide a super plumping and natural shine. If you are looking for a nice light balm with the cutest packaging, look no further! All shades except for "Nude" is new for Summer 2017.
Clear: This is a clear balm with no pigmentation.
Nude: This is a soft pink beige with a very sheer formulation.
Coral: Super sheer light coral peach.
Cherry: Perhaps the most pigmented of the five, Cherry is a bright sheer pink.
Buff: This is a warm nude with a sheer formulation; the color is more buildable compared to the other shades so you can get a bit more coverage.
Availability:
Tarte is available at online at Sephora and Tarte online.
