Just when you feel like the liquid lipstick market is already over-saturated, there is always a newcomer popping up on the scene and earlier this year,
Marc Jacobs released its own version called the
Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme ($38 CAD). Boasting full coverage and long wearing formulation, the range offers up a handful of chic everyday colors. To see some swatches and read my review, click......
Packaging:
The Marc Jacobs Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme comes in an ultra sleek lacquered black tube with shiny silver accents. There is a tiny circular window that gives you a peek to the color inside. However, because the colors in the shade range are so similar, it's kind of hard to tell them apart just by looking through the little window. Therefore, every time I want to pick out a color I have to check the shade name on the bottom of the packaging, which is a bit hassle-some. Finally, each shade is equipped with a standard doe-foot applicator that does a nice job at precisely applying the product.
Formulation:
With a rich and creamy texture that's ultra pigmented, the Le Marc Lip Cremes apply super smoothly and evenly on the lips. Because the formulation is so packed with color, you only really need one swipe for a full coverage. The product has a satin-cream formulation immediately after application but after ten or so minutes, it sets to a satin matte finish. The color feels very lightweight on the lips and for the first few hours, it's pretty comfortable and non-drying.
The Le Marc Lip Cremes wore pretty well considering that it's not your typical liquid lipstick that sets to a completely smudge-proof and transfer-proof finish. After eating lunch and an afternoon dessert, about 50% of the lip color stayed intact. Basically, the inner portion of my lips faded away but the outer portion stayed intact, which is not ideal but given how most of the shades are fairly neutral and light, I was pretty impressed. Also, if you are just wearing the colors to an event with very light eating and drinking, it should stay put with no problem. I did experience some drying after the lip color started to wear away so I would recommend having a balm handy.
Shush Blush: Perhaps the darkest shade out of the entire range, Shush Blush is a gorgeous warm rose. The pigmentation is superb and the color is very flattering.
Slow Burn: This is a dusty pink nude. The shade is a bit duller to my liking but the formulation is very good.
Hot Cocoa: This is the perfect warm beige nude. Again, the formulation is super rich and pigmented.
Truth or Bare: A medium neutral rose, Truth or Bare is your perfect everyday pink. I feel like it's just a touch too light for my skin tone (not so much in the swatches, but definitely in person) so something a bit dustier would have been nice.
