Guerlain has a big fragrance launch this year and as you may already know, its spokesperson is none other than the beautiful Angelina Jolie. Made with priced raw ingredients sourced from all over the world, Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum ($119 CAD for 50ml) is described as a warm and sensual fragrance. To read my review, click.......
The Bottle:
Reminiscent of an alchemist's bottle, Mon Guerlain is housed in a clean, angular glass bottle adorned with a clear crystalline "quadrilobe" cap. The perfume liquid is tinted a rosy hue and the Guerlain brand name is etched near the base. Truth be told, I am not in love with the bottle design. I understand that it's the classic quadrilobe bottle created by Guerlain in 1908, but its simple and austere appearance is just a tad plain. Having been wowed by the likes of La Petite Robe Noire and the Aqua Allegoria range, I was left wanting a bit more.
The Scent:
Mon Guerlain opens with a quick burst of sweet citrus (although the official perfume description has no mentioning of any citrus notes) and it quickly turns into a vanilla bomb. I can detect a little jasmine but the predominant scent is vanilla, which is very rich, very warm, and very gourmand. The perfume is concentrated and the sillage is impressive. Just one spritz per wrist provided me enough for the day.
To me, this is definitely a heavier perfume that's not your light and airy summer fragrance. The scent is intense and it will permeate and linger. Therefore, if you don't love vanilla, chances are you won't like Mon Guerlain. Personally, I find this just a bit too sweet and heavy for my taste. I would have liked more fruity top notes to balance out the vanilla but I'm sure this scent will find its audience.
Availability:
Guerlain is available in stores and online at The Bay, Sephora, Nordstrom, and Holt Renfrew.
