"Bold, versatile, and effortless", the
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($33 CAD) range is getting ten new shades for 2017! Promising a modern velvet finish and full-coverage colors, these lip pencils provide a non-drying and long-lasting finish. Today I have a few shades to share with you. To see some swatches and my review, click......
Packaging:
The Velvet Matte Lip Pencil comes in a chubby crayon form. The product is not twist-up/retractable so you will need a large-barreled pencil sharpener to keep the tips sharpened. I did end up sharpening one of the shades and found the process to be a total nightmare. I don't know why but the lead kept on breaking so I ended up wasting a lot of product.
Formulation:
With a true matte finish, the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils have a lightweight, silicone-y texture that glides very smoothly across the lips. NARS has introduced ten brand new shades for 2017 and I have three of them here. "
Get Off" is a pale peach nude. This shade is slightly sheer and patchy but it is buildable to a mostly opaque coverage.
"
Lonely Heart" is a dark chocolate brown. This one is pretty pigmented but no matter how many layers I try to apply, there is a slight bit of unevenness. Lat not least, "
Famous Red" is a super bright pinky red. This one is very pigmented with a completely opaque coverage. It's a bold summer lip color that's bound to get lots of attention and compliments. The longevity of these Velvet Matte Lip Pencils is pretty good. The colors cling very well to the lips so there is minimal transferring. The formulation isn't drying but my lips did feel a bit tight and rough after a few hours of wear; however, that's just the tradeoff for a long-wearing, matte finish.
