Bite Beauty has long established its status as one of the best natural and organic lip product makers and for Spring 2017, the brand has unleashed two new lip care products. Formulated with blue agave nectar and vanilla, the Agave Lip Scrub and Agave Lip Balm promise to leave your lips soft and nourished. To read my review for both, click.......
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Scrub ($20 CAD):
Formulated with brown sugar, sunflower oil, vanilla, blue agave nectar, and bromelain (pineapple enzyme), this is a rich lip scrub housed in a simple glass jar. I am a huge fan of sugar scrubs but I honestly didn't love the formulation of this one. The product is no doubt packed with loads of nourishing ingredients but the formulation settles very easily. The brown sugar sinks to the bottom of the jar so anytime you want to use this, you'd have stir the scrub with a Q-tip to get an even distribution of scrubby particles and syrupy base.
Even when everything is mixed well, the scrub is simply not very exfoliative. The large sugar crystals are sparse and if you actually had a lot of dry flakes you want to get rid of, it's not going to be very efficient or effective. With that said, if you are looking for a rich lip conditioner, you may enjoy this because the oil-infused base is very nourishing. However, if you want a potent lip scrub, I'd recommend checking out the MAC Lip Scrubtious Lip Scrub instead.
Bite Agave Lip Balm ($20 CAD):
A lighter version of the Bite Agave Lip Mask, the Agave Lip Balm is a hydrating stick balm made with lanolin, shea butter, beeswax, blue agave nectar, and vanilla. The product comes in an adorable little pill-shaped tube and it has a very light vanilla scent. I find the balm to be quite solid and hard, making application a bit difficult as it drags against the lips. However, the balm becomes much slicker and smoother once on the lips. The formulation is hydrating but I don't find the wear to be very comfortable. There's a bit of tackiness to the finish and it simply doesn't stand up to my Jack Black lip balm, either in terms of hydration or comfort. I know it seems like I'm being unreasonably tough on Bite but I think most people have pretty particular preferences when it comes to lip care products and these two new releases from Bite simply didn't jive with me.
