Packaging:
The Picture Polish Matte Lipsticks are housed in a simple matte black case with the brand logo and shade name labeled on stickers. The design is nothing fancy but it doesn't feel cheap or flimsy.
Formulation:
Picture Polish is adored for their fantabulous nail polishes and as far as I know, this is their first venture into cosmetics. All five shades available in the Matte Lipstick range is bassed off of the brand's pre-existing polish shades so if you want to get in on the matching lips and tips trend, these definitely make that simple.
Formulation-wise, the lipsticks are quite a mixed bag. The pigmentation varies greatly from shade to shade but all of these feel very slick and hydrating. The finish is definitely not matte and a few shades had weird hard chunks embedded within the formulation. All in all these lipsticks could use some improvements and hopefully Picture Polish updates the formulation in the future.
Love: A beautiful coral red, Love is semi-sheer but very buildable and even. Formulation-wise, this is probably the best shade out of the bunch.
Grace: Soft lilac-lavender lipsticks have never been my favorite but the formulation of this one is truly a dud. Despite being extremely sheer, the color applied super patchy, accentuating every line and wrinkle on the lips like tomorrow.
Watermelon: This is a bright baby pink. The formulation is slightly sheer but smooth. My natural lip color shows through slightly so it appears warmer on my lips than on my arm swatches.
Bonkers: A deep and dark plum, Bonkers is pigmented but slightly patchy. I would recommend pairing this with a liner to ensure a perfect outline.
Bordeaux: This is a beautiful rich wine red. The color wears lighter than it appears in the tube and on the arm swatches. Formulation-wise, Bordeaux is definitely one of the better ones out of the five. It's pigmented, smooth, and although I had some trouble getting a clean line on my upper lip, I am pretty satisfied with the formulation.
