For Spring 2017, Make Up For Ever has introduced a new line of liquid lip colors that promise an intense color payoff and a lightweight finish. Available in ten daring shades, the Artist Acrylips ($29 CAD) have a blendable and buildable formulation that helps create a soft tint of color or an intense pop of shine. Packaging:
The Artist Acrylip lip colors are packaged in a 7ml squeeze tube. The color dispenses from a doe-foot attached directly onto the tube, much like that of the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. The applicator is pretty small but I still needed a lip brush to attain a clean and precise application.
Formulation:
A very pigmented yet lightweight liquid lipstick, the Make Up For Ever Artist Acrylips are scent-free and non-tacky. The colors can be applied sparingly for a light tint of color or layered on for a high-shine lacquer. The finish does not set completely so the product is not transfer-proof; the colors are prone to smudging and bleeding so I would caution against a very heavy application. The Acrylips will last a few hours at best but after the shine wears off, they leave behind a nice stain. The formulation is comparable to that of the OCC Lip Tars, Too Faced Melted Liquified Liquid Lipsticks, and L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints. Overall, if you like intense liquid lip colors, then you will definitely enjoy these! With that said, the wear is high-maintenance and extra care is needed for a precise application. See below for a breakdown of the three shades I've swatched here.
401 Raspberry Red: This is a gorgeous medium red with a pink undertone. A little goes a long way as the formulation is super pigmented and even. The color melts seamlessly onto the lips, providing a stunning finish.
400 Iconic Red: A very bright red with almost a neon quality, this shade is also super pigmented but I don't think its formulation is as smooth and even as 401. I had to apply a bit more of this one to ensure a completely even and opaque coverage. I would recommend taking some extra time during application to completely smooth out any uneven patches.
201 Fuchsia Pink: This is a neon hot pink made for beauty risk takers. The formulation is very pigmented but the texture is not as even and cohesive as 401.
