Tarte has recently released a brand new eyeshadow palette called the Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette ($69 CAD). Formulated with the brand's famed Amazonian clay, the palette boasts 20 richly-pigmented everyday eyeshadow shades, 14 of which are matte. To read my full review and see some swatches, click.......
Packaging:
The Tarteist PRO palette comes in a sleek and thin compact. The black lid has a matte finish and the gold base is super shiny and reflective. Inside you get a huge mirror, 16 matte shadows, and four shimmery shadows. The shadows weigh in at 1g each so you 20g of shadows in total.
Formulation:
If you love mattes then this is the palette for you. Out of the 20 shades, 16 of them are mattes. The color scheme is also super neutral so it's perfect for an everyday look. Formulation-wise, all the mattes are very soft and smooth. There's absolutely no dry chalkiness and only a couple are slightly patchy. The shadows can be a bit powdery but I find that to be quite common with non-chalky mattes. Additionally, all the shadows have a soft vanilla scent; this certainly doesn't affect the shadow's performance but I'm a sucker for anything vanilla-scented.
Also included are four shimmers, which are all incredibly pigmented and rich. They have a creamy formulation that gives the smoothest and loveliest application. Given that I have a predilection for shimmers, I would have loved to see even more shimmers, especially given the amazing formulation but the mattes are definitely very practical and natural. Overall this is a palette I would highly recommend, the packaging is sleek and the overall formulation is fantastic. If you can only bring one eyeshadow palette when traveling, this has got to be the one!
Classic: A pale eggshell nude, Classic is semi-sheer.
Vintage: An off-white matte, Vintage is also on the sheerer side but the formulation is nice and smooth
Chic: This is a very sheer nude that makes a great blending color.
Indie: A very light taupe brown, Indie is again a sheerer matte but it has a very soft and smooth formulation.
Innocent: A soft cream nude, Innocent is semi-sheer but super even and silky.
Fierce: This is a gray-lavender with a soft but even coverage.
Profesh: A soft taupe, Profesh is another smooth and silky matte.
Bold: A soft beige cream, Bold is a lovely all-over or blending color.
Whimsy: This is a burnt orange with a semi-sheer but even formulation.
No Filter: A sheer mauve, No Filter is nice and silky.
Mod: A unique soft rose, Mod is semi-sheer but not patchy.
Edgy: This is a coffee brown and the formulation is very pigmented and smooth.
Smoked: This is a rich chocolate brown. The formulation is slightly patchy.
Vamp: A deep eggplant brown, Vamp is fairly pigmented but it is a bit patchy.
Drama: A burgundy brown, Drama is slightly patchy but mostly buildable to an even finish.
Punk: Charcoal black with a nice and even coverage.
Ethereal: A warm bronze-gold shimmer, Ethereal is buttery smooth and drenched in pigments.
Glam: Another gorgeous shimmer, Glam is a pale gold champagne. The formulation is superbly smooth and pigmented.
Minx: This is a rich and pigmented warm brown shimmer.
Trendy: Hands down my favorite shade out of this palette, Trendy is a stunning brown-teal duo chrome shimmer. The formulation is utterly perfect- the texture is buttery smooth and the pigmentation is to die for!
