For Spring 2017,
Chanel's Coco Codes de Chanel Collection is all about the five iconic colors of Chanel beauty (aka the Chanel color codes): red, black, gold, white, and beige. Full of fresh and wearable neutrals, this collection aims to reinterpret and reinvent the Coco Code. To see some swatches and my review of a few key pieces, click......

Chanel Les 4 Ombres in "278 Codes Subtils" |
Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette in "278 Codes Subtiles" ($68 CAD):
Hands down my favorite item from this collection, the "
278 Codes Subtiles" quad features four very soft and elegant spring-ready eyeshadow shades. You get a soft pink, a champagne gold, a medium warm brown, and a medium taupe khaki. The shadows have a subtle shimmery satin finish and the pigmentation for all four is superb! Additionally, the combination of the four colors is really nice, I can see myself incorporating all four shades into a neutral everyday look.

Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in "370 Élégance" |
Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in "370 Élégance" ($53 CAD):
A soft tan beige peach blush sprinkled with a dash of fine golden shimmers, "
370 Élégance" has a very finely-milled and silky texture. The blush is nicely pigmented and applies very evenly on the cheeks. This particular shade, however, doesn't quite wear like a blush. I find the shade a bit too bronzer-like, lacking any pink or red undertones that provide the cheeks with a youthful flush. If you have pale skin, this may actually work as a shimmery bronzer but if you are looking for a more traditional blush, you may be disappointed.

Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof in "932 Mat Taupe" |
Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in "932 Mat Taupe" ($35 CAD):
A medium caramel brown eyeliner, "
932 Mat Taupe" is packaged in a convenient twist-up and retractable pencil. The formulation is super slick (almost gel-like) and smooth upon application and the pigmentation is impressive. Unfortunately, the eyeliner never completely sets. Sure the formulation is waterproof, it is not at all smudge-proof, which is a big no-no for any eyeliner.

Chanel Rouge Allure in "176 Indépendante" |
Chanel Rouge Allure in "176 Indépendante" ($43 CAD):
A bright semi-sheer red with a lightweight and moisturizing coverage, "
176 Indépendante" applies very smoothly with an alluring sheen. The shade actually reminds me a lot of the Holiday 2016 "
257 Ultrarose", with "176 Indépendante" being a bit deeper and more pigmented. I had some issues attaining a smooth and opaque line on my upper lip so I would recommend pairing this with a soft red lip liner.

Chanel Le Vernis in "556 Beige Beige" ($32 CAD):
This is a simple beige cream with a very pigmented formulation. I was able to get an even and opaque coverage with just two coats but the polish was not very self-leveling. Therefore, a top coat is a must for a completely smooth finish.
