Bite Beauty has some quality lip products but its pricing can be quite high so the holiday time is the perfect time for lipstick lovers to try out a whole lot of Bite for a discounted price. Today I want to share with you two adorable value sets that will give you a nice introduction to the brand's amazing Amuse Bouche Lipsticks and a variety of other lip products. Bite Discovery Set ($45 CAD):
A value set (worth $82 CAD) containing the best of Bite, the Discovery set comes in a gorgeous gift-ready red tin. You get a full-sized Amuse Bouche Lipstick in "Beetroot" (4.35g) and a full-sized Matte Creme Lip Crayon in "Leche" (1.56g). Also included are mini-sized Agave Lip Mask (5g) and Line & Define Primer (0.87g), both of which are brand new to me. I gave the
Agave Lip Mask a try and I found it to be quite similar to a thick liquid balm, much like my favorite
Jack Black Moisture Therapy Lip Balm. The
Line & Define Primer I have yet to try, but it seems like a regular silicone-based lip primer that provides a slightly more grippy surface for lipstick application.
Beetroot, a Bite bestseller from its Amuse Bouche collection (previously reviewed
here), is a rich and intense wine red. The superbly smooth and pigmented color swatched less vampy and dark than it did the last time, at least with my new lighting setup. Nevertheless, it's a gorgeous winter and holiday color that perfectly walks the line between vampy and festive.
Matte lip crayons have been pretty disappointing for me across the line so my expectations for this Matte Creme Lip Crayon in
Leche was not high, especially given that it's a paler nude shade. So imagine my surprise when I discovered (no pun intended) the pigmented, opaque, and silky formulation. The finish is not a true matte but I am thoroughly impressed with the formulation. The soft neutral nude color is also very flattering as well, not too peachy and not too pale.
Bite The Perfect Bite Set ($29 CAD):
Every year Bite offers some sort of mini set featuring four of its popular lip colors and this year we get an Amuse Bouche set with four mini lipsticks (1.55g each). All four shades are pre-existing colors but they are brand new to me. I was a little surprised with the color collection because they don't scream holiday but after swatching and trying them all, I was actually very pleased. Even though there are no classic reds or bold berries, three out of the four lipsticks are super wearable everyday colors that will come in handy even after the holiday season.
Honeycomb: A soft beige cream, Honeycomb is pigmented and silky. This is not the most flattering nude for my skin tone but the formulation is very good.
Fig: A soft creamy pink, Fig is semi-sheer but buildable to a full coverage. Again this is not my kind of shade but it's easy to wear and very feminine.
Pepper: This is a gorgeous "my lips but better" mauve-rose. The formulation is very silky and nicely pigmented.
Nori: A deep brownish red, Nori is very intense and rich. I was worried the formulation might be patchy but the coverage was pretty even!
