New from
Givenchy for Fall 2016 is the
Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm ($42 CAD), a luxurious lip balm that promises to hydrate, plump, and tint. I am all for low-maintenance and easy-to-wear lip products so I was very excited to try this. To read my review and see some swatches, click.......
Packaging:
Housed in a long and sleek silver tube wrapped in a layer of pink genuine leather, the Givenchy Le Rouge Perfector Beautifying Lip Balm is definitely the most stylish lip balm I own. The lipstick bullet is rather thin, making application a lot more precise although this really isn't a lip product you need a mirror to apply with.
Formulation:
Infused with shea and jojoba butter, this lip balm has a very light and slick formulation that glides on smoothly. The product appears light pink in the tube and it actually contains eosin dye, so after being on the lips for some time, the lip balm turns slightly pink from adjusting to the pH of the skin. The Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm also contains pepperslim and coolact for a plumping and cooling effect. I did feel a tad bit of a minty and cooling sensation but I didn't notice any plumping action.
The product is lightly hydrating but it wears off pretty quickly (within a couple of hours). Because of the tinting effect of the eosin dye, the lips are left nice and softly flushed. This product is pretty similar to the
Dior Lip Glow. However, the formulation is slightly different between the two and I find the tint of the Dior Lip Glow a bit more intense. Overall, though, this is a great everyday alternative to a plain lip balm. It's low-maintenance and easy-to-apply, yet it still provides a nice tint of color that adds a nice finishing touch to a no-makeup makeup look.
