For Fall 2016,
Kat Von D is expanding its Lock-It range with the new
Lock-It Concealer Creme ($34 CAD). With a full-coverage formulation promising a 24-hour wear, the concealer nicely complements the
Lock-It Foundation ($42 CAD), which is getting a makeover with its new sleek packaging. To read about both products, click.......
Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme ($34 CAD):
A new addition to the Lock-It range, the Lock-It Concealer Creme has a very thick and pigmented formulation. Interestingly, the pigmentation is not as intense as the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation (see below) although it is a lot thicker and tackier. You get a very good coverage but because of the thick texture, the concealer is a bit difficult to blend. I also experienced some creasing, and after a few hours the coverage feels a bit drying. One of my favorite concealers of all time, the
Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes, also provides a great coverage but it blends out much nicer while providing a hydrating wear. So all in all this wasn't a winner for me.
With that said, the packaging is super sleek and pretty! The outside features a slightly goth black drip design and the doe-foot applicator is nice and pointed for a more precise application. Below I have "
Medium 17 Warm"; it is a yellow-beige that's the equivalent of MAC NC25.
Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation in "Light 44 Cool" ($42 CAD):
One of Kat Von D's bestsellers, the Lock-It Foundation is getting a makeover this fall! Repackaged in a sleeker bottle, the Lock-It Foundation is an extreme full-coverage foundation that promises a 24-hour wear. The new bottle is still double-layered and looks mostly the same as the original packaging. There is a super cool black drip design and there is an engraving of the KVD logo on the top of the pump dispenser.
I have here "
Light 44 Cool", a
very pale alabaster with a pink undertone. It's probably the equivalent of MAC's NW10. The Lock-It Foundation is probably the highest coverage foundation on the market. The thick formulation is a tad difficult to blend but the coverage is close to 100%. Admittedly the finish is not very natural or hydrating, but the coverage is truly amazing. The formulation is great for oily skin as well; there is minimal fading or creasing so you are truly getting an all-day wear. Check out my full review of this product
