Packaging:
The Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick comes in a beautiful gold and black lipstick tube. The packaging is designed in such a way that when you press the Coco Chanel monogrammed base downwards into the cap, the lipstick pops right up for you to pull out. The actual lipstick bullet is etched with the word "Chanel". As always, the packaging feels super elegant and luxurious without being gaudy or excessive.

Formulation:
When it comes to matte lipsticks, the formulation is either super matte but very drying or it's pleasantly creamy yet not matte at all. So of course, leave it to Chanel, to strike the perfect balance between a comfortable and rich formulation and a beautiful soft matte finish. "
58 Rouge Vie" is a gorgeous warm marsala red. If you find bright reds too daunting and darker reds to vampy, then this red may just be the perfect shade. I personally find the color elegant yet wearable. I personally wouldn't wear reds to school or work on a regular day but this is a red I can get behind every day.

As I've already mentioned, the formulation for this lipstick is absolutely top-notch. The pigmentation is superb yet the color is not at all drying, providing a smooth and rich application. The satin-matte finish doesn't cling to fines lines of the lips and it feels very comfortable. The wear is great as well, the formulation does get a bit drying after a few hours but overall I am quite impressed! If there were ever a Chanel lipstick to splurge on, "58 Rouge Vie" may just be the one!
