Yves Saint Laurent YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain in "401 Rouge Vinyle": Review and Swatches

YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain in "401 Rouge Vinyle"

Packaging:
The Vinyl Cream Lip Stain comes in a beautiful lacquered black tube with a gold YSL logo etched on the cap. There are tiny rectangular windows on the sides that show off the color inside. The flexible doe-foot applicator has a thin paddle design with a pointed tip. The design allows for a very precise application on the bottom lip, but I found it a bit too flimsy to coat my upper lip.

Formulation:
Compared to the original Glossy Stains and the Pop Water Glossy Stains, the Vinyl Cream Lip Stain is a lot more pigmented. The formulation is still a gloss/stain hybrid but the texture is definitely a bit thicker. "401 Rouge Vinyle" is a beautiful blue-based deep red and the finish is super glossy!

Unlike the original glossy stains, the Vinyl Creams transfer quite a bit. Although to be fair, I did put on a lot of product and even though there was noticeable transferring, a good amount of product still remained. Also, even when the color completely wears off, the lips will remain nice and stained. Lastly, there is just a tad bit of feathering.
The Vinyl Creams are very much like an ultra-pigmented lipgloss but you still get that non-sticky, moisturizing, and almost wet feel on the lips. All in all, if you loved the original glossy stains, you might like this one as well. The wear and application are a bit more high-maintenance but the color is a lot more intense!
