Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Drench Lip Splash Lipsticks: Review and Swatches

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Drench Lip Splash Lipstick

Packaging:
The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Drench Lip Splash Lipsticks come in very pretty gold and purple ombre tubes. The tubes are quite thin and long and so is the lipstick bullet inside. Combined with the soft formulation, the tall and thin packaging proved to be quite disastrous. One of the shades broke off even before I used it and two others smushed and broked off the first time I tried to use them.
I've definitely had issues working with way-too-soft lipstick before but these are the worst I've tried. Unless you have the patience to depot these into pans or jars to be used with a lip brush, they really aren't useable at all because they will break.

Formulation:
With an uber soft and melty formulation, the Drench Lip Splash Lipsticks are indeed very hydrating and creamy. The pigmentation is quite amazing as well, even the lighter shades are very opaque. I think with a formulation as soft and as buttery as this, these really should have been stored in pans to be applied with a lip brush. The wear is decent and the bright shades stain the lips quite a bit. Now apparently these are supposed to be matte but I'd say the finish is definitely more creamy, or satin at the most.

Skinny Dip: Nude peach cream.
Top Down: Bright rose; this one is super rich and saturated.
Surfer Girl: Retina-searing hot barbie pink.
Bonfire: Dark vampy chocolate plum.
