Hi everyone, I hope your day is going well! I finally got around to trying out the
Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors ($12.99 CAD) and today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the formulation. Available in ten vibrant shades, the Vivid Mattes promise a velvety application and a matte finish. To see some swatches of a few shades, click.......

Packaging:
The Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors come in simple and sleek rectangular lip gloss tubes. The doe-foot applicator has a wide, flat, and slightly tapered tip and it works quite well at applying the product. I usually find it a bit tricky to apply pigmented liquid lip colors with doe-foot applicators but the formulation of the Vivid Mattes works very well with the modified doe-foot applicators they came with.

Formulation:
The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors, like many of the "matte" glosses that have recently hit the market, are not matte. Like the
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor and the
L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss, these have more of a satin texture at best. For all of my swatches below, I actually had to blot off the shine to make them appear more matte-looking.
Depending on the color, the Vivid Mattes have a fairly pigmented formulation that's very smooth and creamy. They have a slightly vanilla-chemical scent and because the colors do not set, they will smudge and transfer. Additionally, these colors slide around on the lips quite easily. Even just pressing my lips together might cause some patchiness.
Overall, the Maybelline Vivid Mattes are very similar to the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Glosses; they are rich and moisturizing but high-maintenance at the same time. I can see myself rocking out a bright shade for special occasions but on a day-to-day basis, I would stick with more traditional lipsticks.

15 Pink Charge: This is a bright soft pink. The formulation is slightly sheer compared to the other shades but it can be layered for a mostly opaque finish. I personally don't find this color very flattering, it makes my teeth look yellow.
40 Berry Boost: This is a bright berry pink. The formulation is super rich and pigmented.
10 Nude Flush: A pinky beige, this shade is comparatively sheer so my natural lip color peeks through, making the color appear warmer than it is.
35 Rebel Red: This is a bright tomato red; the color is very saturated and opaque,
5 Nude Thrill: A warm beige nude, Nude Thrill is also a bit sheer so it requires a more careful application for a semi-opaque coverage.
