Released last summer, the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water Foundation SPF 30 ($50 CAD) features a revolutionary oil-free formulation that promises to hydrate the skin to the maximum. I've finally got around trying it and today I want to share with my review and swatches. To read on, click.......

The Smashbox BB Water foundation comes in a nice and sleek glass bottle. The cap is attached to a dropper-style dispenser so you can control exactly how much product to dispense.

Made with pigments and polymers suspended in water, the BB Water foundation has a very thin consistency. The formulation is oil-free with SPF 30 and it indeed feels very refreshing on the skin. Fairly sheer, the foundation is buildable to a medium coverage and the finish is surprisingly natural without being overly dewy or shine-prone.
When paired with a good powder, the wear is actually very good, even on my combination skin. The foundation is hydrating and overtime, there isn't too much caking or creasing. My only criticism is the sheerer coverage but given the nice formulation, it's not a deal-breaker. The shade I have swatched here is "Fair", which is very light with neutral undertones, comparable to the NC/NW 15 from MAC.

This foundation reminds me a lot of the MAC Studio Waterweight Foundation released around the same time last year. Aside from the price difference (with the Smashbox priced at $50 CAD and the MAC priced at $39 CAD), the Smashbox BB Water has a slightly better consistency that provides a less dewy finish, which is a big plus for someone with combination to oily skin.
