A few months ago, I had the pleasure of attending a Clarins Spring preview event where I learned all about the brand's new skincare products. The big players this season are definitely the Mission Perfection Serum ($68 CAD) and the Multi-Active Day & Night duo ($52 CAD & $55 CAD). I've been testing them out for several weeks now so I want to share with you my thoughts today. To read on, click.......
Clarins Mission Perfection Serum |
Housed in a very pretty double-layered orange and silver tube, the Mission Perfection Serum dispenses from a handy pump. Formulated to prevent the overproduction of melanin using acerola (cherry) extract, this serum doesn't have that typical runny and thin "serum" consistency, but a rather creamy, lightweight texture. The product is also formulated with "l'hexylresorcinol" molecules that reduce the formation of dark spots, fruit acids that gently smooth the skin, and ginkgo extracts that encourage skin microcirculation, all of which contribute to a smoother and more even skin tone.

As is with most brightening products, it really takes some time to see any noticeable results (if there are any at all). From what I can tell so far, this product definitely immediately radiants the skin but I haven't seen any permanent changes. The formulation is very moisturizing and nourishing so I wouldn't mind using it at night for those benefits alone.
Clarins Multi-Active Jour (Day) & Nuit (Night) Cream |
For 2016, 30 years after the original launch of the Multi-Active line, Clarins has reformulated the day and night cream duo with the addition of teasel extracts. Encapsulated to target fibroblasts in the skin, the teasel extract works as an antioxidant to combat free radicals that damage the fibroblasts. Additionally, Multi-Active Jour is formulated with myrothamnus plant extract which promises to absorb effects of daytime environmental stress while the Multi-Active Nuit is infused with golden poppy extract that claims to boost collagen production (reduces the appearance of fine lines).
Clarins Multi-Active Jour (Day) & Nuit (Night) Cream |
Overall, I am a fan of both the Multi-Active Day and Night Cream and would recommend them to anyone looking for a simple day or night cream. The Mission Perfection Serum is nice but I just don't think it works well for my oily/combination skin.
Update (June 26th): Having finished the Multi-Active Night and at almost finishing the Multi-Active Day, I have to say that I am overly impressed by both products. I've seen visible improvements in both skin texture and glow. My complexion just looks healthier and more glowy. The night cream, especially, makes my skin look super nourished and plump when I wake up in the morning.
Availability:
The Clarins Mission Perfection Serum is available starting February 2016 and the Multi-Active Jour and Nuit Cream are available starting March 2016.
