For Fall 2015, MAC has partnered up with Chinese couture fashion designer Guo Pei for a beautiful, exquisite, jewel-tone collection. Inspired by the "garden of the soul", each piece in the collection is more beautiful than the next. Today I have swatches of two Fluidline Gel Eyeliners ($21 CAD) from the range to share with you, to see some swatches, click........
Packaging:
The MAC Guo Pei Fluidlines come in traditional glass jars. Instead of a smooth black cap, the liners have a gold cap with a slightly textured finish. I wish the design had a bit more color and intricacy as all the other pieces in the collection are nothing short of awe-worthy.
Formulation:
"Blue Fountain" is a bright medium blue with no shimmers. "Darkness of Calm" is a dark chocolate brown; MAC describes it as a frost but the formulation really only has some sparse silver sparkles that are barely visible on the lid. Both shades are super lightweight, the texture is slick and gel-like, drying to a matte, transfer-proof formulation within seconds. The wear of these are really great and the formulation is mostly waterproof.
Overall:
Believe it or not, this is actually my first time trying the MAC Fluidlines. I'm impressed with how nicely they apply, the smooth and slick formulation makes it very easy to create nice sharp lines. Both shades are very beautiful, the brown is a great alternative to bold black liners and the blue is great if you really want your eyes to pop!
