Taking cues from Asian beauty trends, Sephora has recently released a line of Sleeping Masks ($5 CAD) formulated with a cream-gel texture that promises to pamper the skin while you sleep. Available in eight different types, the masks each target a different skincare concern. I tested out the Honey Sleeping Mask, which is designed to nourish and rebalance the skin. Packaging:
The Sleeping Mask comes in a tiny disposable pot with a sealed peel-off lid. The little pot has 8ml of product, which is a lot more than needed for one application (unless you are really slathering it on). Unfortunately though, the pot is not resealable so whatever is left will only stay fresh for so long.
Formulation:
Made with honey and mushroom extract, the Sleeping Mask promises to nourish and soothe dry and sensitive skin. The formulation has a subtle fruity honey scent and the texture is light and gel-like, in no way representing a traditional face mask. In fact, the product absorbs pretty nicely into the skin, much like a day moisturizer. My face feels fairly hydrated in the morning but the product doesn't really feel like a mask at all.

Overall:
After trying this a couple of times, I feel like this is more like a light moisturizer as opposed to a nourishing face mask. The product keeps my face hydrated but it's nothing special. Additionally, because the packaging is not sealable, the product kind of needs to be used up as soon as possible. However, due to the nature of a sleeping mask, the application can't be thick and generous like a clay mask as any excess will be rub all over your pillow and sheets. So ultimately, a resealable packaging design would have been a lot better.
