Packaged in a simple plastic tube with a small spout opening, the Iris Extract Essence has a slightly viscous liquid formulation, midway between a liquid toner and a serum. It has a very refreshing feel on the skin with a subtle botanical scent. With three key ingredients- lipo hydroxy acid, iris florentina root extract, and sodium hyaluronate- the essence promises to renew, re-nourish, and replenish the skin.
Kiehl's suggests this to be applied by dispensing a few drops on the fingertips and spreading it across cleansed face. I have been using it with a cotton pad; this way uses a bit more product, but I feel like it spreads and absorbs better. Immediately after application my skin feels refreshed and plumped. The formulation is surprisingly moisturizing without being greasy. Sometimes I don't even need to follow up with a moisturizer because wearing the essence alone is conditioning enough. I do feel like my skin looks more radiant but overall I mostly enjoy how comfortable it feels on the skin and how moisturizing it is.
