For Fall 2015,
Stila has a new cream-to-powder foundation called the
Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector ($51 CAD). With a unique hybrid formulation, the Putty Perfector promises weightless coverage and non-smudge, waterproof wear. So how well does this interesting foundation work, click.......
Packaging:
The Putty Perfector comes in a round golden plastic compact. The inside has a nice mirror and a plastic flip-lip protects the foundation from the included sponge applicator.
Formulation:
With an interestingly bouncy, cream-to-powder formulation, the Perfectly Poreless Putty can be applied using a foundation brush, a sponge, or simply the fingertips depending on the level of coverage you desire. When applied using a brush, the foundation goes on quite sheer but if you use a sponge or your fingertips, you can get a much higher coverage.
Because of its squishy texture, the formulation helps blur the pores and fine lines. However, I only find that to be the case if the product is applied using a sponge/fingers.
"Medium" is a darker beige, comparable to NC/NW 25 to 30. The product is available in four additional shades.
The recommended applicator from Stila for the Poreless Putty Perfector is the
Wonder Brush for Face & Body ($75 CAD). This is a beautiful multi-purpose synthetic brush designed for both dry and wet products. The bristles are dense and short and the handle is very sturdy and luxurious. I didn't actually like this for the Poreless Putty Perfector as I found that it applied the product too sheerly, accentuating dry patches on my face. However, this is really great for normal powders and liquid foundation.
Below is "Medium" applied using the Wonder Brush. For my more prominent blemishes, I used my fingertips to apply the product for a fuller coverage. As you can see, the coverage is fairly decent.
Overall:
This is a unique cream-to-powder hybrid foundation. When applied with a sponge or just the fingertips, the product applies very smoothly with a nice coverage. However, I did not like the Wonder Brush pairing, as I found the application too sheer, clinging to dry patches without smoothing out pores.
