For Fall 2015,
Stila is changing up the liquid eyeliner game with the release of its new
Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner ($36 CAD). Housed in a revolutionary cushion sponge jar, this liner promises beautiful color and a flawless application with the
La Quill Precision Eye Liner Brush ($36 CAD). To Read more about this interesting eyeliner, click......
Packaging:
The Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner comes in a small frosted glass pot with a pretty golden lid. Inside of the jar is fitted with a piece of sponge that's drenched with liquid liner. The sponge holds onto the product very well so there is no leakage or spillage. The liner can only be accessed if you dip a brush into the sponge.
The major benefit of this sponge design is that it allows flawless application of metallic liners. Traditional liquid liner pens tend to get clogged by the metallic particles but the sponge cushion's large holes allow them to be easily picked up by a liner brush so you can attain a full, intense metallic application.
Formulation:
"Smokey Quartz" is a gorgeous russet metallic brown with ashy golden shimmers. The formulation is very liquidy but it sets very quickly. The pigmentation isn't one-swipe opaque but the liner layers beautifully with no crustiness or patchiness. Because the formulation is mostly made of metallic particles, there is virtually no smudging but the liner is not waterproof.
The product can be applied with either a tapered liner brush or an angled brow/liner brush. Stila has made a special
La Quill Precision Eye Liner Brush just for this liner. It has a medium width brush that's tapered at the end. This works well with the cushion liner but making a sharp wing was a bit challenging.
Overall:
This is a unique take on the liquid liner. I really dig the cushion sponge packaging as I've always wanted to apply liquid liners with my own eyeliner brushes. The La Quill liner is good for drawing even lines along the lash line, but I found angled liner brushes to be better at making winged tips.
The Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner is available in five additional shades, make sure to check them out the next time you visit Sephora.
