Recently, there seems to be a big revival on lip glosses. Urban Decay, Make Up For Ever, and now Marc Jacobs are focusing on hydrating glosses that provide high-shine and high-pigment. In fact, the new Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28 CAD) promises a "thirty coat shine". To see some swatches of a few shades from the line, click.......
Packaging:
Like all Marc Jacobs products, the Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers come in super cute packaging. The gloss tubes are kind of cuboidal, with silver accented black caps. The doe-foot applicator is very flat and flexible. It pivots quite a bit at the base to accommodate the curves of the lips.
Formulation:
The Enamored Hi-Shine glosses indeed have a very glossy, almost wet finish. The formulation is super lightweight and gel-like, not at all sticky. However, because the gloss is so slick and lightweight, it's not very long-wearing. Any drinking or eating will cause the gloss to transfer and fade. With that said, the hydrating formulation makes it easily re-apply-able. Especially with these sheerer shades I have swatched below, the gloss is almost like a liquid balm for the lips. Marc Jacobs describes these as mint-scented, but the scent is very subtle.
326 Pink Flamingo: Sheer milky baby pink.
318 Pretty Thing: Sheer beige nude.
334 Forbidden Fruit: Sheer papaya orange.

The Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers are super shiny, lightweight, and hydrating. The wear isn't great and these sheerer shades are more like glossy liquid balms. So if you are looking for long-lasting and pigmented glosses, these are not it. However, if you like an easy-wearing gloss that's shiny and non-sticky, then definitely check these out.
