When it comes to lashes, bigger is always better. To help you attain bigger lashes, L'Oreal Paris has released a new version of the Miss Manga Mascara, the Miss Manga Rock by Voluminous ($11.99 CAD). With an intense, buildable, and texturizing formula, the Miss Manga Rock promises eye-opening, mega-volume lashes. So how well does this mascara work? Read on to find out.......
Packaging:
The Miss Manga Rock Mascara comes in a sleek, shiny lime gold and black tube. The silicone brush has a conical shape with large spaces between the bristles. The design really helps load each lash with an ample amount of mascara. I also really appreciate the tapered tip because it allows me to easily reach my inner and outer corner lashes.
Formulation:
I have sparse, straight lashes that point slightly downwards. The mascara helped define my lashes and it created some nice volume. However, I couldn't really achieve that thick, voluminous "manga rock" effect without clumping all my lashes together. The version I tried is the non-waterproof formulation so it wasn't completely smudge-proof. However, the mascara comes off easily with some warm water.
I think this would be a decent everyday mascara for those with naturally curled lashes as the formulation weighed down my curls after just ten or so minutes.

Left: Bare lashes; Right: Two coats of the Miss Manga Rock Mascara |
This is a nice defining mascara that gave a fairly natural look. Similar to my experience with the original Miss Manga, I was not able to achieve the mega-volume, manga-esque look with Miss Manga Rock, perhaps due to the thin and wispy nature of my lashes. So with that said, if you have relatively thick and curly lashes, these would probably work much better for you.

The Miss Manga Rock Mascara is available in stores starting May 2015.
