Launched in 1996 when Philosophy was first founded, Hope in a Jar has since been a long time bestseller of the brand and for 2015, Philosophy is launching a new generation of the classic called the Renewed Hope in a Jar. Including a moisturizer ($59 CAD for 60ml) and an eye cream ($72 CAD for 15ml), Renewed Hope in a Jar provides long-lasting hydration, refined skin texture, and added radiance and glow to the skin. Packaging:
Both the Renewed Hope in a Jar moisturizer and eye cream come in a simple matte translucent double layered plastic jar. The packaging design is simple, no fuss, very representative of the brand philosophy.
Formulation:
Formulated with three types of hyaluronate including HA spheres, HA blend, and blue agave extract that stimulates natural skin production of HA, the moisturizer provides and locks in long-lasting hydration. In addition to its hydrating properties, the product includes a triple blend of alpha hydroxy acids that chemically exfoliate the skin, reducing pore size and fine lines. Lastly, the moisturizer is infused with various Asian fruit extracts and prickly pear flower extracts that improve the skin's radiance and luminosity.
In terms of formulation, the moisturizer is very lightweight but still very creamy. I love the fact that it has a beautiful matte texture that's natural and comfortable. I have oily skin and I find it hard to find a moisturizing day cream that doesn't leave my skin feeling oily and icky so I'm really glad about this one. The eye cream, on the other hand, has a more whipped texture. It does a decent job of keeping my eye area hydrated but it didn't wow me as much as the moisturizer did.

Overall:
I've never tried the original Hope in a Jar so I can't say how the Renewed Hope in a Jar compares. However, the moisturizer is quite amazing, I love how light yet hydrating it is and the matte finish is great for my oily skin. I like the eye cream as well, but it's not as revolutionary as the moisturizer.
