Paul & Joe Sparkles Collection Lipstick Case 019 & Lipstick Refill 086: Review and Swatches

For me, the packaging of makeup is just as important as its performance and Paul & Joe pretty much has the cutest and most beautiful packaging on the market. Usually found at fancy, obsecure boutiques, the brand is finally coming to select Shoppers Drug Mart in Vancouver and Calgary! So today, I want to share with you one of the new lipsticks from the limited edition Collection Sparkles. To read more, click.......

Packaging:
So if you are new to Paul & Joe, you should know that a lot of their products allow customization, which means that the lipstick refills ($20 CAD) and lipstick cases ($7 CAD) are sold separately. This allows you to swap various colors with various cases.
All the lipstick cases are made of a paper cardboard material and the one I have here is called 019. It's a beautiful floral design with red and yellow flowers and pictures of cocker spaniels (I think) printed all over. The cardboard material isn't as long lasting as normal plastic lipstick tubes but the artistic design is worth sacrificing over.
The refills will easily click into the tube and it's removable if you want to change the case. Here are some more new cases, aren't they so precious?

Even the lipstick refill comes in lovely boxes, I am not sure if all shades have the same design but shade 086 has a delicate bird and floral print.  The lipstick refill has a shiny silver casing with blue birds printed around it. The lipstick is etched with a floral design, super intricate and pretty.

Formulation:
Shade 086 is described as a "sheer, passionate red" and it's just that! Juicy, translucent with tiny red sparkles, the formulation is sheer but not patchy. The color goes on beautifully and smooths over creases and dry patches, which a lot of sheer colors actually tend to accentuate. The finish is so plump and shiny too, but not at all sticky. Despite being a sheer color, 086 wears for at least three or four hours before the color starts to fade. However, the lipstick stains the lips so even when the shine wears off, there is still a natural wash of color.

Overall:

I am so in love! Not only does this lipstick look amazing, the formulation and color is just as loveable. And the fact that Paul & Joe is finally readily available in Vancouver, I definitely will check it out more!
