I had been lemming after the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks ($25 CAD) ever since their first release back in 2014. The adorable packaging and the beautiful colors drew me in like no other lip products before. Finally I've had a chance to give one of these bad boys a try. So does it live up to my expectation? Read on to find out........
Packaging:
The liquid lipstick comes in a long squeezable tube that holds a generous 12ml of products. The tip of the tube is a large doe-foot-like applicator with tiny holes that allows the product to dispense when the tube is squeezed.
The packaging says the applicator is precise and that no lip brush is needed but I find that to make nice neat lines with the applicator, I have to be very careful, especially when filling out the corners of the mouth and the cupids bow. Therefore, I personally would still use a lip brush for the perfect application.
Too Faced Melted Lipstick in "Melted Fuchsia" |
The Melted lipsticks have a thin, dry oil-like texture packed with pigments. "Melted Fuchsia" is a cool tone bright pink and it's quite a head-turner. The product glides on nicely and it smooths out most fine lines. There is minor bleeding so it's important not to apply too much. The product feels quite weightless on the lips and it's moisturizing. However, in terms of wear, this isn't really "long wear".
The product settles a bit after application but it still easily smears and transfers like most traditional lipsticks. With that said though, if you are not doing any heavy drinking or eating, the color will last for at least five or six hours.
Overall:
This is a super saturated lip color for those that really want a pop of pink on the lips. In terms of formulation, the Melted Lipstick is lightweight, moisturizing but not extremely long-lasting (or kissproof). So if color and comfort are the only two things you're looking for, definitely check these out! Also, this product is quite similar, but slightly less pigmented compared to the OCC Lip Tars. Another comparable product is the L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint but those are a bit more gloss-like and cushion-y.
