Hi everyone, happy Tuesday, I hope your week is going fine and dandy. Last month I shared with you two fall lip colors from Yves Saint Laurent's Glossy Stain range and today I wanted to share with you a couple more warm and chic fall colors from the brand's Rouge Volupté line. The Rouge Volupté Lipsticks ($39 CAD) from YSL have several different finishes; the Rouge Volupté Perle is pigmented, creamy and smooth with a satin-y pearl finish while the Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balm Crystal Colors have a sheerer lightweight formulation. Today I have one shade from each line to swatch for you so to see some pictures, click.......
Packaging:
Oh gosh, where do I even begin...... It's pretty easy to say that YSL Rouge Volupté Lipsticks have some of the fanciest packaging in the lipstick world. The Perle (pearl) formulation features a shiny gold exterior while the Sheer Candy version features a shiny silver exterior. Around the middle of the lipstick bullet there is a strip of plastic in the color of the lipstick shade and it's covered with metal cut-outs bearing the YSL logo. So intricate and luxurious!
Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy in "7 Sweet Fig":
This is a sheer red lip balm with a light and shiny finish and the formulation feels super moisturizing and balmy on the lips. I personally find the pricing for this a bit steep because the product is essentially a tinted balm but with that said, when it's YSL and comes in such an elegant packaging, not many can resist.
Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy in "7 Sweet Fig" |
This is a gorgeous plummy/burgundy rose with a super lightweight formulation. Even though the formulation is so smooth and thin, the pigmentation is phenomenal; the lightest swipe yields a opaque coverage. The lipstick looks almost a bit frosty in the tube but on the lipsticks the shimmery particles are much more subtle and only contributes to a satin-y finish. Because the lipstick is so lightweight, it doesn't cling to the lips very well so its wear isn't as great as other lipsticks in similar shades.
Here are some arm swatches, you can really get an idea of how incredibly pigmented "113 Iridescent Burgundy" is!

Both are such gorgeous shades for fall. If you are into something a bit more natural and light, go for the Sheer Candy and if you prefer an intense and saturated color, opt for the Volupté Perle!
