I've only started using an eye cream in the recent years but ever since I started I can't seem to live without one. I usually stick with a lightweight gel formulation but the luxurious Crème Ancienne Eye Cream ($129 CAD) from Fresh really caught my eyes. The formulation is drawn from the world's earliest "emulsion-based cream", which was created in the 2nd century A.D. by Emperor Marcus Aurelius's doctor, Claude Galen, to heal the wounds of gladiators. Additionally, each Crème Ancienne eye cream is in fact hand-blended in a European monastery to preserve and honor its awe-inspiring origin. So just how amazing is this cream, find out by clicking........
Packaging:
The Créme Ancienne Eye Cream comes in a simple, no-fuss white glass jar. The packaging is simple but the nice weight of the jar makes the product feel very luxurious.Key Ingredients:
- Meadowfoam Seed Oil
- Beeswax
- Seabuckthorn Berry Oil
- Jojoba Oil
- Lemon Peel Oil
- Sugar Apple Seed Extract
The eye cream has a very solid formulation (even at room temperature), it kind of has the consistency of chilled butter, for a lack of better comparison. However, upon contact with the skin, the cream softens and melts. The formulation is heavy and slightly greasy but it absorbs quite well. I do have to be careful not to apply too close to the eyes as the product does tend to migrate and get into the eyes. It doesn't sting but it's not very comfortable when that happens. The product has no noticeable scent.
As you can see, I've made a pretty decent sized dent already as I've been using this cream for the past couple of months. I find it very moisturizing and rich; it keeps the eye area hydrated well into the day. I, fortunately, do not have any wrinkles yet so I really can't speak on the anti-aging properties of this product, but Fresh's in-vivo studies show that with twice-a-day application for four weeks, 94% of the study participants reported that their crow's feet were less noticeable.
Overall:
This is a rich and wonderful eye cream for those that want a little something extra for their eye area. I found this to be super moisturising and penetrating and I think that if you have wrinkles or will soon get wrinkles, this product is worth the investment.
Fresh is available online and in stores at Sephora.
