Hey guys, happy Sunday! It's been a while since I reviewed some of the skin products I've been using on a regular basis so I wanted to start writing about them before I finish and recycle the products. Back in August, I started using the Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner ($35 CAD) from Clarins. Containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) from tamarind extract and white nettle extracts, this gentle toner softens and brightens the skin while removing impurities and dead cells. So how well does this product really work, find out by clicking......
Packaging:
The Gentle Exfoliating Toner comes in a simple white plastic bottle with a velvety matte finish. The product dispenses from a simple nozzle.
How to apply:
Using a cotton pad, generously apply the toner to the face and neck, avoiding the eye contours. After application, wait for one minute before proceeding to the next step in your skincare routine. Because the product contains AHA, which increases the skin's sensitivity to the sun, it's recommended to wear sunscreen and protective clothing up to a week after using this product.
Formulation & Result:
This toner has a more viscous formulation compared to most toners. It has a slightly slimy feel on the skin but it isn't oily or greasy. The tamarind acids help remove dead skin cells and encourage cellular renewal while the white nettle extract help tighten pores. Immediately after application, the skin feels immediately softened. The toner feels comfortable on the skin but it doesn't give a tingling or cooling sensation, which I always like to have. I've used this for several months now and I've noticed that this has made my skin texture more even. And because of that, my overall complexion looks healthier although I still experience bouts of breakouts and higher than normal sebum production as I have combination, acne-prone skin.
Overall:
I like this product a lot because it makes the skin smoother and softer. However, the downside is that it cannot replace my normal, everyday toner as this product should only be used twice a week. In addition, it's also wise to avoid using this product on a regular basis during the summer as it does contain AHA, which increases skin's sensitivity to sun damage and sun burns.
