New from Calvin Klein is an sensual, provocative, and unexpected scent called Reveal. Appropriately starring the yummy Charlie Hunnam and Doutzen Kroes in its ad campaigns, Reveal Eau de Parfum ($85 CAD for 50ml) has a very unique bottle design and scent profile, to read more about it, click.......
Bottle Design:The bottle of Reveal is quite unique in that it's a slim triangle with a triangle lid that makes the perfume look like a square. The scent is tinted a light shade of rose gold and the lid is a shiny metallic silver. Unfortunately the bottle doesn't stand but I love how it looks so edgy and elegant at the same time.
*Update: One edge of the bottle is actually flat so the bottle does stand on its own.
The Scent:
Calvin Klein describes Reveal as a "Solar Oriental" scent that combines an "unexpected freshness" with an "enveloping warmth".
Top Note: Salt, Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, White Pepper
Middle Note: Orris, Ambergris
Base Note: Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Vetiver
Interestingly, I've never tried a perfume with salt and pepper as its top notes so I really didn't know what to expect. Surprisingly, the pepper (not so much the salt) was very prominent but not at all unpleasant. Mixed with the orris and woody base notes, the scent feels sharp but warm at the same time. Ambergris, the other middle note, is also worth noting. A waxy substance found in the intestines of sperm whales (sounds gross, I know, but it smells amazing), ambergris gives the scent a lightly sweet and earthy feel.
Overall:
This, hands down, is one of the most unique fragrance (both in terms of scent and bottle design) I've tried in a long time. To me the scent is very warm and comforting but I can definitely see how it is also uber sexy and provocative at the same time.
Availability:
Reveal is available online and in stores at Sephora, The Bay, Sears, Shoppers, Murale, and London Drugs.
