New from Clinique is a line of gorgeous lipsticks called the Long Last Soft matte Lipsticks ($19 CAD). These full-coverage matte lipsticks promise to be long-wearing, non-staining, non-feathering and non-drying. To see how well they stand to their claim, click.......
Packaging:
The Long Last Soft Matte Lipsticks come in silver bullets with a simple but classic shiny and matte ribbed design.
Formulation:
All the Long Last Soft Matte Lipsticks are very pigmented and have a smooth and velvety texture except for the nude shade (Suede), which felt rather dry and almost silicon-y. The wear varies depending on how dark the shades but there were minimal smudging and bleeding. If you are familiar with the Revlon Matte Lipsticks (reviewed here), you will find that the two are very similar.
From left to right: Crimson, Mandarin, Suede |
Crimson: This one is a gorgeous true red, such a stunner. |
Mandarin: This is a bright orange. It was surprisingly wearable. I think the matte texture tones down the boldness. |
Suede: This was the one that I had a lot of issues with. Because my lips are fairly pigmented on its own, the nude color wasn't opaque enough to cover everything. |
From left to right: Plum, Magenta, Peony, Petal, Beauty. |
Plum: This one is a gorgeous vibrant violet, also surprisingly flattering. |
Magenta: This one is a hot Barbie pink, super bold and definitely a head turner. |
Peony: This is a warm tone pink. It is so bright that it almost comes across a bit neon! |
Petal: A gorgeous baby pink, this one is definitely one of the most wearable color of the bunch. |
Beauty: This one is a warm rosy pink, very feminine and pretty. |
With the exception of Suede, all these lipsticks are incredibly pigmented and smooth. The formulation is not at all drying but it's definitely wise to exfoliate the lips before application to ensure the most even finish. I also love the color selection as I am all for bold lips!
