This month, Influenster partnered up with Lancôme to give some of its members a chance to try out the much anticipated new Grandiôse Mascara ($35 CAD). Designed with a unique "swan neck wand", the mascara promises to evenly coat all lashes from root to tip. To read more about the formulation and see some swatches, click......
What it is:
-An all-in-one mascara that lengthens, curls, and volumizes
-Swan neck wand easily reaches all lashes (from inner and outer corner)
-Elastomer brush grasps each lash to provide even and precise application
-Ultra black formulation is long-wearing and flake-proof
Packaging:
The exquisite packaging of the Grandiose Mascara is definitely one of its main attraction point. The mascara comes in a sleek black acrylic teardrop-shaped tube. The black fades to clear near the top of the cap to reveal a beautiful black rose encased in clear acrylic. This is hands down the fanciest mascara I've ever tried.
The very interesting swan neck wand allows you to really reach for those pesky inner and outer lashes without smudging the product on your lids. I personally find the design a bit tricky to get used to because the curviness requires me to change the way I hold the wand in order to accommodate the region of lashes I'm working on. The wand itself is a fairly compact silicone brush with short bristles. I like that the wand isn't huge like most mascara wands on the market nowadays because I can really get to the roots of my lashes without poking my eyes.
Formulation & Result:
The Grandiôse Mascara has a rather viscous formulation. The upside is that my curls don't get weighed down but the downside is that the mascara is slightly clumpy. I really have to work at my lashes to ensure an even application.
The mascara gave a lot of volume and definition but not a lot of length. After one and half coats, my lashes were still soft to the touch and the formulation wears well throughout the day but it's not sweat or oil-proof.
Overall:
I am head over heels in love with the packaging design of the mascara but I am not too keen on the swan neck wand. I found it tricky to have to change the way I hold the wand in order to accommodate the inner/outer lashes. The formulation is very volumizing but not lengthening enough for my liking.
