What it is:

Packaging & Wand Design:
The Aqua Smoky Extravagant comes in a sleek black mascara tube with tapered ends. There is a shiny blue stripe on the lid that indicates the waterproof formula.
The bristle wand has a conical shape. The tip allows easy coating of every single lash; it works really well at the inner and outer corners of the eyes.

As you may already know, I am a tough critic when it comes to mascaras but surprisingly, I am really loving this one! The formulation has just the right consistency so it really helps to define the lashes without weighing the down. Just the right amount of mascara comes out of the tube so it's easier to build the product without making a mess.
The tip of the wand works really well at getting the smaller lashes and the roots. The mascara didn't provide a lot of volume but it did help lengthen the lashes. The formulation lasts all day and of course it won't smudge and run from humidity or oil from the skin. I also really love the fact that it holds curls better than any other North American mascaras I have tried in the past.
Update on longevity: I put this mascara through a more intense test. I went out a bit when there was a drizzle, took a nap with the mascara run, and then went on a jog. I noticed that there was noticeable smudging after both napping and running. It seems the mascara isn't very resistant to sweat or oil.
Overall:
This is another win from Make Up For Ever! Although it doesn't beat my Fairy Drops' Platinum Waterproof Mascara (my holy grail of mascara), the Aqua Smoky Extravagant is the best mascara I have tried in a long, long time. The formulation is lengthening and clump-free. It lasts all day (see above for update) and holds curls fairly well. I definitely recommend it to everyone!
