I have long loved The Body Shop for all of its body and skincare products, but it's only until very recently that I had the chance to try out their makeup range. In today's post, I will be introducing to you three new makeup releases from The Body Shop. To read more about the InstaBlur All-In-One 5 Action Perfector ($22 CAD), the Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream ($15 CAD), and the Color Crush Shine Lipstick ($13), click......
What it is:
-A mattifying makeup primer made with spherical powders infused with vitamin E
-Gives 12 hour Shine Control
-Smoothes pores and evens complexion
-Prolongs the wear of makeup
Packaging:
The product comes in a simple squeezable tube.
Key Ingredients:
-Dimethicone (silicone oil)
-Dimethicone cross polymer
-Silica
Formulation & Result:
This primer has a very solid and silicone-y texture. As you can see from the image above, it is so solid it almost dispenses into a ball form. Despite it being very solid, the product blends quite easily. However, it is important to not over-blend. As soon as the product disappears on the skin, any further blending action will cause the product to pill and come off in tiny little bits, which I find quite annoying.
The product hides pores very well and it does indeed even out the complexion. The formulation is quite similar to Benefit's Porefessional, so if you a fan of that primer, you will like this as well!
For me I prefer to wear this alone as I find it difficult to pair the product with a foundation or BB cream. It makes foundation application difficult because it will pill and interfere with the blending of the foundation. Therefore this isn't my go-to primer for wearing a foundation. But it well on its own.
What it is:
-Lightweight BB Cream formulated with tea tree oil
-Provides seamless coverage and combats blemish
-Gives natural shine-free coverage
-Available in three universal shades
Packaging:
The BB cream comes in a squeezable tube with a convenient flip cap.
Notable Ingredients:
-Soybean oil
-Shea butter
-Tea tree oil
Formulation & Result:
This BB cream is one of the sheer ones I have tried. The product has a very noticeable tea tree oil scent, like all the other products from the Tea Tree line. It also gives a refreshing cooling feeling for the skin which I quite like. However, I had a lot of trouble getting the product blended nicely into the skin. I first tried using my BB Cream brush from EcoTools and that left behind a lot of streaks, I then went in with my fingers and that really didn't help either. It seems that product doesn't really integrate with the texture of the skin very well. Finally I managed to work it into the skin and I noticed that it emphasized the pores a lot. The pigments sat right into fine lines and pores (I actually was wearing the the primer underneath) and the finish was rather dewy which isn't a bad thing if you have drier skin.
So overall there was just something lacking with this one. It didn't have that nice cushion-y and creamy formulation I look for in a BB cream. However, it is worth noting that the shade 01 Light is very light so for those pale ladies that have struggled to find the right shade of BB cream, this one should work quite well!
What it is:
-A light and moisturizing lipstick that gives a natural wash of color
-Formulated with marula oil for extra moisturization
Packaging:
The lipstick comes in a classic shiny silver tube. The cap has a small clear window near the top that reveals the color of the lipstick.
Formulation & Pigmentation:
This lipstick has a very sheer and creamy formulation with a natural sheen. The shade "Sunset Romance" is a light coral that's super fresh for the summer. The lipstick is lightweight and moisturizing, definitely great for those looking for just a hint of color and a nourishing formulation!
Here is a photo of me wearing the primer and the BB cream with some translucent powder. I am also sporting the lipstick as well.
So there you have it, a round up of a few new releases from The Body Shop. I wasn't wowed by the two face products but I am do love the lipstick.Have you spotted these products at your local The Body Shop? Which one interests you the most? Let me know in the comments below!
