Hi everyone, happy hump day! I have one physics midterm coming up that I am totally dreading but after that I have one week of break so I seriously just need this week to be over!
Today I have two glitters from from the new Sally Hanson Triple Shine Nail Polish Collection and coincidentally both are named after mermaid-y related things. To see some swatches and read my review, click......
"Fanta-Sea":
In the bottle this polish looks like a metallic glitter hybrid (kind of like Mermaid's Dream from Deborah Lippman), but to my surprise this was actually a fairly sparse clear based blue and silver glitter polish.
For my swatches, I used two coats of "Fanta-Sea" over "Crystalline" from Sally Hansen's new Satin Glam collection. The combination actually really reminded me of Mermaid's Tail, in a different color scheme.
Because the glitter of "Fanta-Sea" is quite sparse, it probably works best as a glitter topper instead of a stand-alone glitter. It would probably take four or more coats to get an opaque coverage of glitters. The drying time of this was very good but it does require a good top coat to smooth out the glitters.
This polish is a beautiful glitter/hybrid flakie with more glitters than flakie. For my swatches I used two coats of "Scale Up" over a black creme from American Apparel called "Hassid". The glitters are small iridescent hexagons that shifts from green to blue.
The flakies gives a glass shard effect and color shifts from green to blue. They kind of stuck out a bit, which was not a problem I experienced with "Pearly Whites", the other flakie polish from this collection.
The drying time was decent and in hindsight I should have topped this over a dark blue or green to give my manicure a more mermaid-y look, but "Scale Up" looks pretty over black as well.
