Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well! Today I have two best-selling Honey Rainbow glitter polishes from 2013 to show you all, they are called "The Kraken" and "Magic Cake". To read my reviews and see more swatches, click.....
The Kraken ($10 for full size 15mL bottle):
The ultimate mermaid nail color, The Kraken is a blue jelly based polish packed with blue and green hexagon glitters. I have reviewed this polish in the past, check out the post
here. Overall, the formula is thick but not impossible to work with; it is hard to get a clean line near the cuticles but no glitter fishing is needed.
For my swatches I used two coats of The Kraken with no top coat but a top coat is needed to smooth out the glitters. Formulation-wise, this was not the easiest glitter to work with but the unique look it gives makes it worthwhile.
Magic Cake ($10 for full size 15mL bottle):
This glitter is jam-packed with tiny iridescent flakes and neon colored glitters of various shapes and sizes. The subtle cool-tone sheen of the iridescent flakes gave the polish a lot of depth. The formula was incredibly easy to work with, the glitters applied rather evenly and smoothly, I used two coats on each nail.
I paired mine with a black cream called Hassid from American Apparel but you can probably tell that Magic Cake would be loads of fun over
any nail color!
This glitter is very similar to
I've Got A Goodie Bag from GlitterBunny but they certainly aren't dupes. Magic Cake also has a better formulation that does not require sponging to apply the glitters evenly.
There you have it, two best-selling glitter polishes of 2013 from Rainbow Honey! I don't own a lot of Rainbow Honey polishes but I am not surprised that these two came out on top. The Kraken is the perfect polish to wear in the summer and Magic Cake is simply confetti for your nails, perfect for any time you want a little party at your fingertips!
