As I mentioned before, my favorite mascara of all time is the Fairy Drops Platinum Waterproof mascara with its awesome fiber extension formula and lasting hold. Unfortunately, it is slowly drying up (I've been using it for five months now...) and because Sasa.com, the only place where it is sold for a reasonable price, charges a hefty shipping fee unless I spend over $40, I have been hesitant to repurchase it.
Anyhow, I have been on the hunt for its replacement and that is how I came upon the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Show Off Mascara with Fiber Formula. And man was I disappointed, to see my review and how it looks on the lashes, click......
Packaging:Here is a picture of the tube, the packaging is incredibly bulky; I am not a fan.
Below is a picture of the bristles, it is one of those plastic-y rubber bristle with a ball at the end. I was partly intrigued by the bristle design; however, upon application I really disliked it. One, the bristles are too sparse and too long; it is very difficult for me to coat my small asian lashes without crashing the bristles into my eyelid! Two, that little ball at the end is super useless; again, all the bristles are so sparse and long that it's impossible to get the brush to the root of my lashes without poking my eyes out!
Formula:
The formula of this is probably the most disappointing of all. When I first pulled the wand out of the tube, I knew this product is not going to wow. The mascara is so so so so soooo dry, it is as if I have left it unscrewed under the sun for a month! Upon application, it was as I expected, dry and super clumpy! You think a drier formula holds curls better but nope, my curled lashes started to droop within minutes of application.
In addition, there definitely was not a lot of fiber in the formula, I could only spot a few on the want, but overall I was not pleased with the amount of extension this provided.
Look at the lumps, ugh! |
I do want to mention that that there are a few good reviews about this product (to my surprise). I think that this could work for those gals with naturally long and luscious lashes, but for asians with straight, sparse and short lashes like me, this is a no go.
Does any of you have any recommendations? I am desperately looking for an alternative as the last drops of my Fairy Drop dries up!!!
