Tarte's Maracuja Lip Exfoliant ($21 CAD at Sephora) is described as a skin-softening scrub that sloughs away dryness with raw sugar and replenishes with pure maracuja oil for soft smooth lips. To see my review, click......
Lip balms do not always work for me in solving my dry lips problem, expecially during cold winter months. When first putting on this scrub it feels quite minty, reminding me of the Burt's Bee's mint lip balm, so it has a slight tingling sensation which I like. The sugar has just the right amount of scrub, you can dab on the a bit of the scrub even while you are out because the sugar will eventually disappear and you are left with nice moisturized lips. This is also good for prepping your lips before a special occasion. And because of the sugar, it has a nice sweet taste.
Although I like this product, I don't love it. It seems like something I could whip up myself with some softened Burt's Bees and sugar. If you have the money to spend, then go for it, otherwise I'm sure you can find better products out there for a better value, rather than $21 for only 0.7oz. Tarte also mentions the use of Maracuja oil, but I honestly can't even feel a difference between this and regular lip balm in terms of the moisture it gives my lips. The formula is also very soft so I always ended up with a lot more on my finger than what I need which makes it messy to deal with. There was either extra on my finger that I needed to figure out how to get rid of, or there was too much on my lips with all the sugar moving to the corners of my mouth, which is not a nice feeling.
Overall, I was slightly disappointed with Tarte on this one. Has any of you tried a store-bought lip scrub that you enjoyed? Do share!
